Connolly's OT Winner Lifts Crunch over Norfolk

Norfolk, VA - Brett Connolly scored 1:21 into overtime to lift the Syracuse Crunch over the Norfolk Admirals 4-3 tonight at the Norfolk Scope.

On the strength of goals from Alex Killorn, Vlad Namestnikov, Richard Panik, Connolly and 22 saves from netminder Dustin Tokarski the Crunch improve to 22-7-2-3 overall and 15-3-0-2 on the road.

After a scoreless first period the Admirals and Crunch scored within a minute of each other early in the second period. The Admirals jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a goal from John Kurtz but Crunch center Killorn evened the score 50 seconds later with his 13th goal of the season, assists went to JT Wyman and Radko Gudas.

Norfolk took their second lead of the game with a power-play goal from Patrick Maroon. Maroon poked the puck past Tokarski for a 2-1 lead at the 12:38 mark of the middle frame.

Vlad Namestnikov tied the game when he backhanded the puck past Admirals goaltender Igor Bobkov with 2:02 to play in the second period, the assist went to Pierre-Cedric Labrie.

The Crunch took their first lead of the game with a wrap-around goal from Richard Panik 3:36 into the third period. Panik's goal was his 17th of the season, assisted by Connolly and JP Cote.

Admirals right wing Kyle Palmieri scored a power-play goal to tie the game with 8:21 remaining in the third period and force overtime.

The Crunch will clash with the Admirals in Syracuse on Friday, January 11 at 7:30 p.m. It will be the fourth meeting between the two clubs in 15 days.
