Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Alex Servagno's goal at the 17:30 mark of the third period was enough for the Green Bay Gamblers, as they would move on to score an empty netter and upend the Dubuque Fighting Saints 6-4 on Tuesday night at the Resch Center.

Servagno's shot from a severe angle gave Green Bay the 5-4 edge late, as he beat goaltender Hobie Hedquist over the shoulder. The third period had featured several lead changes, including pushback from the Fighting Saints on two occasions.

Robert Cronin and Max Montes scored for the Saints in the third period, and tied the game on two occasions. Dubuque entered the third period down by a goal, and Cronin's tally tied the game at the 4:13 mark. Green Bay responded 40 seconds later with a tally from Ryan Kirwan off the rush. The Saints would not be finished, as just 17 seconds later, Montes crashed the net and was rewarded off of a P.J. Fletcher shot towards the goal that was stuck in between the skates of a Gamblers defender.

Matt Savoie traded goals with Camden Thiesing in the first period, and it was Savoie's that took the cake. The Saints' sniper stripped the puck away from Mason Lohrei and dangled goaltender Matt Davis to tie the game at one with just over a minute to play in the first period. It was Savoie's tenth goal of the season.

Green Bay brushed off a brief Fighting Saints lead. Ian Pierce drove the net and was rewarded on a shovel attempt by Connor Kurth at the 6:41 mark of the second period. Damien Carfagna and Thiesing added goals within a four-minute span to give Green Bay the lead at 3-2 heading into the second period.

Hedquist finished the night with 24 saves on 29 shots. The Saints pushed rubber towards the net with frequency throughout the night, outshooting the Gamblers 42-30 for the game. Davis weathered the storm enough to make 38 saves and pick up the victory for the Gamblers.

The Saints will move into a crucial three-in-three starting Friday, March 19 against the Chicago Steel for Military Appreciation Night, sponsored by Hirschbach Motor Lines. Tickets are available at DubuqueFightingSaints.com.
