Windsor, Ont. - Despite striking first, the Firebirds dropped a 4-2 decision to the Windsor Spitfires on Sunday night in the second of three exhibition games in Flint's inaugural preseason in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

At 11:36, Flint's Matt Henderson intercepted a Spitfires pass in the neutral zone and head manned the puck to Bryce Yetman. On a 3-on-1 entering Windsor's zone, Yetman found Cullen Mercer who executed a forehand, backhand, top-shelf goal to give the Firebirds a 1-0 lead.

Just over six minutes later, from behind Flint's net, Windsor's Cole Carter fed Daniil Verity in the high slot who one-timed the puck into the cage to tie the game 1-1 at 17:40.

With 30 seconds remaining in the middle frame, Windsor capitalized on a turn over in Firebirds zone. Cristiano DiGiacinto passed the puck to Luke Kirwan, taking the lead 2-1 from the right circle.

Flint would get on the board for the final time of the game when Will Bitten picked the puck up behind the Windsor goal and found an open Jacob Collins in the low slot who buried with 11:50 remaining in the game.

Windsor's Logan Brown scored the game-winning goal with 1:40 remaining in the contest to secure the victory for the Spitfires on Sunday night. Windsor's Hayden McCool entered the zone on the right wing wall, passed to Logan Stanley in the left circle who one-touched the puck to a closing-in Brown, one-timing it into the back of the net.

DiGiacinto would add an empty net goal for the Spitfires with 26 seconds remaining. Windsor outshot Flint 32 to 27. Zack Bowman made 28 saves on the night in goal.
