Bradenton Marauders News Release
BRADENTON, Fla. - In the second game of a four game series against the Tampa Tarpons, the Bradenton Marauders dropped the second game in a row against the road side on Ladies Night at LECOM Park.
For the second straight contest to begin the set, Tampa jumped out to an early lead off the bat of Ben Ruta. After homering in the first inning on Thursday night, Ruta brought home a pair of runs in the first once again on a double to left field that opened the scoring for either side. Bradenton's first run came in the home half of the third inning when Casey Hughston dropped a bunt down the third base line and later came around to score on a groundout. The main offensive surge for the home side on Friday came in the seventh inning, when four runs were plated on four hits, including three RBI singles in a row followed by a Bligh Madris sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the ninth, Albert Baur clubbed his 12th home run of the year with two runners on base and two outs to bring the Marauders back within a pair of runs, but the late comeback was stifled by RHP Greg Weissert for the Tarpons who registered his second save in as many nights.
In his Marauders debut, LHP Domingo Robles was knocked around to the tune of nine earned runs on eleven hits over his 3.1 innings of work that included three walks as well as strikeouts as Robles took the loss. RHP Adam Oller allowed the only other run as he outlasted Robles on the hill by firing 3.2 innings and allowed just two hits and struck out a trio of Tarpon batters. LHP Ronny Agustin and RHP Blake Cederlind both worked around danger in their matching innings of work, but neither late inning reliever allowed a runner to cross home plate after allowing multiple batters to reach.
The Marauders continue their four game series against Tampa on Saturday, 90's Night at LECOM park with RHP Gavin Wallace tossing at 6:30 pm.
