Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
Josh Smith and Ezequiel Duran provided all of the necessary offense in game two of a doubleheader on Saturday night at Dutchess Stadium.
The table setters in the lineup split four of the five Hudson Valley hits between them, with Duran driving in both runs.
The Hudson Valley Renegades beat the Jersey Shore BlueClaws 2-0 in the nightcap while the Claws won the early contest 6-2.
The doubleheader was played in front of 2,879 fans, the largest crowd to enter Dutchess Stadium since September 2019. Fireworks lit up the sky a few minutes after the final out.
Jefry Valdez -- who joined the Renegades earlier on Saturday -- pitch 2.2 scoreless innings, while Matt Minnick and Justin Wilson went the rest of the way to complete the four-hit shutout.
Jersey Shore won the first game, 6-2, as Jonathan Guzman's three-run homer in the first inning gave the BlueClaws a 4-0 lead. Josh Smith homered in the Gades' half of the first, and James Nelson drove in a run in the fourth.
Josh Maciejewski took the loss in the early game (2-3) while Kevin Gowdy picked up the win (1-3). Aidan Anderson picked up his first save.
Minnick got the win in the nightcap (2-0) while Wilson earned his third save.
The teams play game six of the seven-game series Saturday at 6:05.
