Landreth Leads Colts Past WhiteWings

Harlingen, TX - Jason Landreth hit two three-run home runs to lead the San Angelo Colts (39-25) past the Harlingen WhiteWings (18-48) 12-2 tonight at Foster Field.

The Colts sent 12 batters to the plate against Brock Nehls (0-1) in the second. Andres Rodriguez led off with a single, Aaron Cone walked and Landreth hit his third home run in as many games. Wyn Diggs walked and Jack Chapman followed with an infield single. Two outs later, John Anderson hit an RBI-single. Jose Torres hit a grounder to short, but the flip to second for the force was not in time. Rodriguez then hit a two-run single and Cone hit an RBI-single to make it 7-0.

The WhiteWings struck against Brian Henschel (8-3) in the fourth. Amadeo Zazueta led off with a double and moved to third on a single by David Cardona. Ryan Fox hit a sacrifice fly to make it 7-1.

In the bottom of the inning, Rodriguez hit a one-out single and scored on a double by Cone. One batter later, Diggs hit an RBI-single to make it 9-1.

Angel Cordero took over in the fifth and gave up a leadoff walk to Anderson. One out later, Rodriguez singled. With two outs, Landreth hit his second three-run home run of the game to make it 12-1.

Joel Gonzalez led off the ninth with his third home run to complete the scoring.

That would be it against Henschel, who picked up his fourth complete game by scattering ten hits and one walk while striking out six.

The WhiteWings and Colts plate game three of this six-game series tomorrow night at 5:05. Right-hander Armando Casas (0-0) will face right-hander Billy McKinney (3-4).
