Omaha Lancers News Release

RALSTON, NE - Following an extended holiday layoff, the Omaha Lancers (21-4-4, 46 pts., 1st in Western Conference) went 1-0-1 in their first weekend back on the ice, a week that saw the Lancers pound one of their Nebraska rivals and fall to another. As they charge into the second half of the 2013-14 USHL season, the Lancers remain alone atop the Western Conference and overall USHL standings with a five point lead on the second-place Waterloo Black Hawks. On Friday, the Lancers received a combined 13 points from their top line of Jake Randolph (2G, 3A), Gage Hough (2G, 1A, GWG) and Tyler Vesel (1G, 4A) in an 8-3 home victory over the Tri-City Storm. Despite two more points from Vesel (1G, 1A) on Saturday, an effort that helped deliver the future Nebraska-Omaha Maverick CCM USHL Forward of the Week Honors, Omaha couldn't overcome the Lincoln Stars on the road, falling to their arch-rivals by a 3-2 score in overtime, the Lancers' second consecutive overtime defeat in the head-to-head series with Lincoln. Next up for the Lancers, it's a busy three game week, as Omaha heads north to take on the Sioux City Musketeers (19-7-1, 39 pts., 4th in Western Conference) on Tuesday at the Tyson Events Center before the Des Moines Buccaneers (10-13-3, 23 pts., 5th in Western Conference) invade Ralston Arena on Friday on United Way Night. Then on Saturday, the Lancers play host to their nemesis, the Lincoln Stars (7-14-5, 19 pts., 7th in Western Conference) on " TeamMates Night ", presented by Land O Lakes. Not only will the Lancers don specialty TeamMates jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game with the proceeds going to benefit the TeamMates mentoring program, but TeamMates co-founders and Nebraska icons Tom & Nancy Osborne will be in-house on Saturday to drop the ceremonial first puck and take in the action. To get a first look at the Lancers' TeamMates jerseys, join Tom Osborne, the media, Lancers fans, season ticket holders, corporate partners and the general public at a Thursday press conference at Ralston Arena (details provided below).
