Ralston, NE - Four unanswered goals helped the Buccaneers erase an early hole and top the Lancers 4-1 Wednesday night.

A strange hop helped the Lancers crack the scoreless tie in the first period. As time expired on a penalty to David Keefer Lancer defenseman Michael Joyaux ripped a shot from the point that bounced off the glass behind the net. As the puck caromed over the head of Jan Ruzicka the Lancers swarmed around the crease. Mitch Perrault was able to get enough of the puck to send it past Ruzicka and, after an extended review, put the Lancers up 1-0.

In the second it was a short-handed tally that drew the teams even. Reed Lebster took advantage of a misplayed puck by the Omaha defense which turned into a break away for Lebster. The Michigan native capitalized on the opportunity tying the game at 1-1. About five minutes later the Bucs would take the lead and not look back. Bucs forward Cameron Orchard found himself open below the dot and send a one-timer past Peter Thome to give Des Moines a 2-1 lead. Before the period ended they would strike again. Kobe Roth scored his fourth of the season to push the lead to 3-1 before the period ended.

In the third Mark Senden added his second of the season to cap off the scoring, and leave Omaha looking up at a 4-1 deficit.

Peter Thome made 26 saves on 30 shots, while Jan Ruzicka recorded 14 saves on 15 shots.

Omaha will be back at home on November 26 as they host Team USA for Leap For A Cure Night presented by Methodist Health. The night will feature specialty jerseys, and if the team is able to raise $10,000 all players will shave their heads on the ice immediately after the game.
