Tri-City Storm News Release

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha Lancers (8-1-1) goaltender Hayden Hawkey stopped all 22 shots that came his way to defeat the Tri-City Storm (2-5-2) 2-0 at the Ralston Arena on Saturday night.

Jacob Johansson was strong in net for Tri-City, making 26 saves and keeping Omaha off the board late to allow the Storm a chance at a comeback.

The Lancers scored both of their goals in the opening period and were able to hold onto the lead the rest of the way.

First it was USHL scoring leader Jake Randolph who lit the lamp with a deflection in front that got past Johansson at 4:39 of the first period. The goal was Randolph's fifth of the season and his twentieth point in his tenth game.

Minutes later, Omaha forward Luca Frigo found his linemate Tyler Hynes in front for the Lancers' second tally of the night. Hynes beat Johansson cleanly, going blocker side and giving Omaha a 2-0 lead.

Tri-City did have some good opportunities, but on multiple occasions the Storm either missed the net or rang their shots off the pipe and couldn't find the back of the net.

One of the best chances for Tri-City was on a two-on-one where Dan Labosky took a pass from Ryan McMurphy and beat Hawkey, but the puck found the iron and stayed out.

The Storm also had some good chances with the man-advantage, but again couldn't finish and ended the night 0-for-3 on the power play.

Tri-City will return home to take on the Waterloo Black Hawks on Wednesday night at the Viaero Event Center. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.

Notes: The Storm scratched forwards Garrett Gamez, Joey DiBenedetto, Chase McMurphy and Thomas Aldworth. Forward Ross Olsson was also scratched, serving a four-game suspension.
