Omaha Lancers News Release

Ryan Raven's power play goal in the third period was a bright spot in an otherwise lackluster offensive performance, as the Lancers opened the 2006-07 regular season with an 8-1 loss to the Stars in Lincoln on Friday, October 6th.

Raven's first goal of the year came at the 16:34 mark of the third period, and was assisted by Mark Olver and Zach MacVoy. However, Lincoln already had a 6-0 lead at that point when Raven scored, and the Stars added two more goals for the final result.

For the night, the Stars scored three power play goals to the Lancers' one, and Lincoln added a short-handed goal that opened the scoring at the 2:43 mark of the first period.

The Lancers' one goal came on 35 shots, while Lincoln put 28 shots on net, with Lancer goaltender Scott Gudmandson making 20 saves. Bryan Hogan stopped 34 shots for Lincoln in posting the victory in goal.

Raven's goal was the only power play goal in 12 opportunities for the Lancers against the Stars. Lincoln went 3-for-14 with the extra man. The penalty-filled contest saw the Lancers take 17 penalties for 37 minutes and the Stars whistled 18 times for 47 minutes.

The Lancers will look for better fortunes when they start the home season on Saturday, October 7th, against the Tri-City Storm. Game time will be 7:05 PM at the Mid America Center in Council Bluffs.
