
Lancers Acquire Drew Montgomery from Tri-City

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League have announced the acquisition of Forward Drew Montgomery along with a 2023 Phase II, 3rd round draft pick and a conditional 2024 Phase II, 3rd round draft pick in exchange for Forward Evan Werner and a 2024 Phase II, 7th round pick.
Drew Montgomery (2003), of Grand Forks, North Dakota is in his third USHL season. So far, all played with the Tri-City Storm.
Montgomery tallied six points in his rookie season (2G-4A-6P) through 29 games played as he helped the Storm climb atop the western conference with a record of 30-18-3-1 for 64 points.
In the 2021-22 season, Montgomery was only absent for seven regular season games as he notched 15 points through 55 games played (6G-9A-15P) as Tri-City placed first in the western conference standings once again, winning an Anderson Cup in the process. Montgomery picked up two playoff points that year through five games played as the Storm propelled to the western conference finals before falling to the 2022 Clark Cup Champions, the Sioux City Musketeers.
In the current season, the 5-foot-11, 174 pound forward has skated in all 13 games, picking up five assists in the process. He is set to make his debut with the Lancers on November 19th, 2022 as they take on the Sioux Falls Stampede.
Evan Werner (2003), of Flower Mound, Texas has played a fraction of the past two seasons with the Lancers, skating in the final 16 regular season games of the 2021-22 season, as well as four playoff games after being picked up in a late trade with the Youngstown Phantoms, and played in 14 out of 15 regular season games this year.
Throughout his 30 regular season games in Omaha, Werner picked up 15 points (9G-6A-15P) as well as six playoff points (5G-1A-6P) in just four playoff game appearances.
Werner is expected to debut with the Tri-City Storm on November 18th, 2022 at the Viaero Center, as the Storm take on the Des Moines Buccaneers.
