World Junior A Challenge - Earlier this week, USA Hockey announced the first 21 players for the U.S. Junior Select Team that will compete in the 2022 World Junior A Challenge from Dec. 11-18 in Cornwall, Ontario. The group includes 12 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders. All players currently play in the USHL. The Muskegon Lumberjacks have the most rostered players with four. It was previously announced that Marc Boxer (Hancock, Mich.) is the general manager of the team. Eric Rud (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Sioux Falls Stampede) will serve as head coach, with assistant coaches Evan Dixon (Novi, Mich./Dubuque Fighting Saints), Mike Leone (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Green Bay Gamblers) and Matt Smaby (Minneapolis, Minn./ Waterloo Black Hawks).

Hot Streaks - Quinn Finley (MAD) and Anthony Menghini (FGO) are on six-game point streaks with 10 points and seven points, respectively...Jack Harvey (CHI) is on a five-game goal streak with nine in that stretch...

Plus Players - Jakob Stender (+16), Bret Link (+14) and Anthony Menghini (+13) of the Fargo Force lead the USHL in plus/minus. Jack Harvey (CHI) is tied for third with Menghini.

Steel Scoring (A Lot) - Chicago has the top four point scorers in the USHL and five of the top 10. The Steel have the top two goal scorers in the league and four of the top 10.

Western Conference Showdown - Lincoln (8-0-0), Waterloo (7-0-0) and Des Moines (5-0-0) are perfect when scoring first. The Stars travel to face the Black Hawks for a two-game series at Young Arena this weekend. In addition to being perfect with the lead, Lincoln and Waterloo are both riding four-game winning streaks.

Nebraska Nice? - Lincoln (22.2 PIMS/game), Omaha (21.9 PIMS/game) and Tri-City (21.9 PIMS/game) lead the USHL with the highest PIMS per game average.

Mic-Drop Moment - Last weekend Joshua Karnish and Andy Moore of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders stepped off the IR and into broadcast booth, filling in for Cedar Rapids' broadcaster, who was unable to call the game due to sickness. The RoughRiders won 6-5 in OT.

Sioux City Fights Cancer - Last month, the Sioux City Musketeers presented a $100,000 check to UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Sioux City. The money was raised from a jersey auction following the team's Pink in the Rink game. One jersey was sold for more than $21,000.

Des Moines Gives Back - The Buccaneers were honored as the 2022 Easterseals Iowa Community Support Partner of the Year last week at the organization's annual banquet. Des Moines supports Easterseals Iowa with the annual Guns N Hoses game & Donut Drive, in partnership with the Des Moines Police and Fire Departments. Last year's event raised $66,000. Easterseals Iowa is an organization leading the way to 100% equity, inclusion, and access for people with disabilities, families and communities.

Fargo Heads to Moorhead - For the first time since its inaugural season, Fargo will play a home game across state lines. The Force will take on Sioux Falls in Moorhead, Minn. on Thursday, Nov. 17 for Cully's Kids Night. The team will wear and auction special black jerseys with orange piping, then donate $1 from each ticket sold and all jersey auction proceeds to the Cullen Children's Foundation, which provides financial resources to organizations that support children's healthcare needs, with an emphasis on cancer.

World Cup Fever - Saturday is World Cup Night at Fox Valley Ice Arena. The first 500 fans in attendance for Chicago vs. Youngstown will receive a vuvuzela.

Stampede Blood Drive - In partnership with Culvers, Sioux Falls will host the 22nd annual "Bleed Blue" blood drive on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Each patron who gives blood will receive four tickets to a pre-selected game, a pint of Culver's famous custard and a stainless steel logoed growler.
