Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
The Lancaster JetHawks bolstered their playoffs hopes on Monday night, salvaging the final game of the four-game series at The Epicenter, picking up an 8-2 win over the Quakes, ending Rancho Cucamonga's four-game win streak.
JetHawks' starter Robert Donovan (1-2) allowed just one run over six strong innings, while the Lancaster offense got to Quakes' starter Manaurys Correa for six runs over just four innings.
Correa (1-10) retired the first six hitters but got into trouble over the next two innings. In the third, Mark Ori doubled home David Flores for a 1-0 Lancaster lead. With runners at first and third and no outs, Jay Austin grounded into a double-play, scoring Ori to make it 2-0.
The JetHawks scored four in the fourth to break it open, with Jonathan Villar and Bryce Lane each driving in a pair, putting the JetHawks up 6-0.
The Quakes got on the board against Donovan in the fourth, as Mike Trout doubled and then scored on Alberto Rosario's RBI single, making it 6-1.
Christian Scholl took over in the fifth and struggled a bit, as he gave up an unearned run in the fifth and an earned run in the sixth, as Lancaster capped their scoring at 8-1.
The Quakes got their final run in the seventh against JetHawks' reliever David Berner, as Richard Cates scored on a two-out throwing error to make it 8-2.
The Quakes (34-29, 73-60) host the second-place High Desert Mavericks on Tuesday night, in the final three-game series at The Epicenter in the regular season. Garrett Richards (3-1) takes on Mavs' righthander Maikel Cleto (4-8) at 7:05pm.

Lancaster will answer with righthander Robert Donovan (0-2). Monday is Grand Slam Monday, as one fan will leave The Epicenter with $1000 in cash if a Quakes' player hits a grand slam home run.
