Visalia Rawhide News Release
LANCASTER - It was not the start to the week-long road trip the Rawhide were looking for at the Hangar in Lancaster on Thursday night, as the JetHawks unleashed a flurry of rallies to best Visalia 15-2 in the series opener.
Rawhide starter Kyle Schepel (L, 2-3) gave up eight runs in 5.0 innings pitched and the offense could not do much to keep up. Lancaster starter Kyle Hallock (W, 3-0) also lasted 5.0 innings, but surrendered just one hit and a walk, as the 'Hide were not much of a threat offensively.
Frank Santana did not fare much better in relief, giving up seven runs in 1.1 innings pitched. Lancaster scored in six straight innings, capped by a six run rally in the 6th inning.
Ryan Court and Tom Belza were the rare bright spots in the contest, as each collected two hits. Raul Navaro was also 1-for-4 with an RBI.
With the loss, the Rawhide fall back to 3.0 games out of first place with 17 games left to play in the first half of the season. Keith Hessler (3-2, 4.53 ERA) will toe the rubber for the 'Hide on Friday night at 7 pm, as he tries to get the team back on track.
