Sarnia Sting News Release

Sarnia, ON - As the Sarnia Sting celebrate 25 years of OHL hockey in Sarnia, many loyal Sting fans reflect on past team highlights and their favourite players. Some of these players are possibly remembered for creating some great excitement by scoring the Teddy Bear Toss goal. The annual Teddy Bear Toss has become a favourite community tradition for many area residents and this year marks the 21st Annual Lambton Ford - Sarnia Sting Teddy Bear Toss.

This annual event is presented by Lambton Ford, in conjunction with Blackburn Radio Sarnia/Lambton. This years' event is scheduled for Saturday, December 8th at 2:05 PM when the Sarnia Sting play host to the Kingston Frontenac's.

As tradition has it, when the Sarnia Sting score their first goal, the gracious fans respond by tossing their stuffed toy onto the ice. The toys are gathered from the ice and then transported to Lambton Ford to go on display until the stuffed toy makes its' way to its' new home.

Since its' inception this event has generated over 59,600 gifts for our community. Each year Lambton ord hosts a Media Launch to announce the event to the public. Blackburn Radio will perform their morning show on CHOK from the dealership. This launch provides an opportunity for local media to speak with organizers, Sting players as well as the main gift recipient, The Salvation Army who are always happy to share their first-hand experiences that they have had over the first 20 years. The radio station as a key sponsor continues to promote the event on their three stations, FOX FM, K106.3 and CHOK / 103.9. The Sarnia Observer, Sarnia This Week, YourTV and Sarnia Journal also assist in covering this popular event.
