
Lakeland Tigers Coaching Staff To Lead West Division All-Stars

Lakeland, FL (May 11th, 2006) - Lakeland Tigers manager Mike Rojas, along with pitching coach Britt Burns and coach Larry Herndon will lead the West Division All-Stars at the 45th Florida State League All-Star Game on June 17th, 2006 in the friendly confines of Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland. The Tigers contingent will also include trainer Dustin Campbell and strength coach Nick Wilson. The Tigers coaching staff received the honor by virtue of representing the West in the Florida State League Championship Series last September. The 2005 FSL Champion Palm Beach Cardinals coaching staff will lead the East Division All-Stars. The East Division staff will include manager Ron Warner, pitching coach Derek Lilliquist, coach Derrick May, and trainer Allen Thompson.
The All-Star Weekend festivities run from June 16th-18th in Lakeland and throughout Polk County. R-G Crown Bank, Polk County Sports Marketing, The Terrace Hotel and the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce are sponsors of the 45th Florida State League Midsummer Classic.
The weekend festivities begin on Friday, June 16th with a player introduction party at Lake Mirror. In partnership with the City of Lakeland, there will be a special Music on the Promenade concert. On Saturday, June 17th the Big Brothers Big Sisters All-Star Autograph Hunt will take place from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM in downtown Lakeland as part of a joint venture with the Downtown Lakeland Partnership. All-Star players will be stationed at different downtown Lakeland businesses and fans will have the opportunity to meet the players and get autographs. Proceeds will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters. There will also be a day trip to Cypress Gardens Adventure Park in Winter Haven for visitors to check out one of Polk County's finest attractions.
The 45th annual Florida State League All-Star game begins at 7:35 PM on June 17th. Gates open at 5:30 PM with the Home Run Derby beginning at 6:00 PM. A spectacular fireworks show will light up the skies at Joker Marchant Stadium following the game. Tickets for the game are just $8 for every seat in the house and can be purchased at the Tigertown ticket office, Ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster outlets.
