Lake County wraps up sweep of Intimidators with 7-4 win

EASTLAKE, OH - The Intimidators were swept for the first time this season, as Lake County finished off a four-game set with a 7-4 win at Classic Park on Tuesday night.

Kannapolis rallied to tie the game, 4-4, with three runs in the top of the eighth, but the Captains scored three of their own in the bottom of the eighth to retake the lead.

Drew Garcia knocked a bases-loaded double down the rightfield line off of Santo Frias in the eighth to cut it to a one-run deficit. Jorge Castillo drove in the tying run two batters later with a sacrifice fly.

Frias (2-0) took the win for Lake County despite giving up three runs in two innings. He was the pitcher of record as the Captains used a leadoff walk and back-to-back triples off of Charlis Burdie (1-2) to score three in the home half of the eighth inning. Delvi Cid, playing in his first ever game in the South Atlantic League, recorded the triple that scored Mark Thomson from first for the winning run.

Lake County (15-16) took an early lead thanks to three-run first-inning home run from Nate Recknagel off of Intimidators starter Greg Infante. Infante fired six innings, giving up four runs on six hits, while striking out seven and walking three.

Kannapolis (16-16) had just six hits in the game, though half of them belonged to leadoff hitter Tyler Kuhn, who finished 3-for-5.

The Intimidators fell to .500 for the first time since Opening Night.
