
Lake County Wins Season Finale 15-6

Lake County Captains News Release
(Lansing, MI) - Bryson Myles had five runs batted in and Leonardo Castillo added four RBI as The Lake County Captains (40-30, 71-68) defeated the Lansing Lugnuts (35-33, 82-55) by a final of 15-6. Lake County had a nine run seventh inning, which sealed the game. In the inning, Lake County sent 14 men to the plate and smacked eight hits during the nine run rally. Leonardo Castillo had a bases clearing double in the inning, at the time the Captains led 10-6. At the end of the inning it was 15-6 Captains.
In the bottom of the third inning, Lansing scored six times. The Lugnuts sent eleven men to the plate and scored six times off of Captains starter Felix Sterling. In the inning the Lugnuts had eight straight singles off of Sterling with two outs to score the six runs. This was the first scoring of the game and Lansing led 6-0 heading to the fourth.
In the Fourth, Lake County scored three runs to cut into the lead. An error in the inning led to the first Captains run, and a single by Bryson Myles also plated a run and Lake County just trailed 6-3 heading into the fifth inning. In the fifth Lake County tied the ballgame. The bases were loaded and Bryson Myles doubled everyone home for his second, third and fourth runs batted in on the day. Myles picked up one more ribby in the seventh inning on a fielders choice.
RHP Felix Sterling (4-8) started the game for the Captains and did not get the decision. Sterling pitched three innings allowing six earned runs on ten hits. Sterling struck out one and threw two wild pitches. Cody Penny (4-1) earned the win after pitching three scoreless innings allowing one walk and one strikeout. Manny Carmona and Francisco Valera finished off the ballgame for the Captains and they did not allow a run.
RHP Kramer Champlin (4-1) got the nod for the Lugnuts and pitched three scoreless innings allowing just two hits and fanning two. Tim Brechbuehler pitched one and two thirds innings and yielded six earned runs. He walked three and struck out one. Aleson Escalante (1-2) took the loss after pitching an inning and two thirds and allowing six runs, five earned with one strikeout. Phil Brua and Blake McFarland finished the ballgame for the Lugnuts.
The Captains are off on Tuesday. On Wednesday Lake County will welcome Bowling Green to town for Game One of the Mid West League Playoffs. No pitching matchup has been announced yet.
