April 5, 2019 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) looks to extend its undefeated streak to six matches as the Club gets set to take on Eastern Conference side D.C. United on Saturday afternoon. The Week 6 matchup, which features the top teams in each conference, is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on FOX, ESPN 710 AM, and 980 AM 'La Mera Mera'.
With the 5-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes last weekend, LAFC extended its unbeaten streak to five matches to start the 2019 campaign. Led by Carlos Vela's first hat-trick in MLS, the Club earned its first road win of the season. After five weeks, the Black & Gold currently sit atop the league standings with a 4-0-1 (13 pts.) record.
Meanwhile, D.C. also earned its first road win of the year, and first since May 19 of last year, after defeating Orlando City SC 2-1 on Sunday. Forward Wayne Rooney tallied his fourth goal of the season, and guided the team to its third win of the campaign. D.C. United leads the Eastern Conference with a 3-0-1 (10 pts.) record.
Last year, LAFC and D.C. battled to a 1-1 draw in the first and only regular season meeting between the two sides on May 26 at Banc of California Stadium. Forward Diego Rossi gave the Black & Gold the lead in the 38th minute, before the visitors would find the equalizer six minutes from time via forward Darren Mattocks.
