The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) will host Sacramento Republic FC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 on Wednesday, June 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Banc of California Stadium.

LAFC advanced to the Round of 16 after earning their first-ever Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup victory, defeating USL side Fresno FC 2-0 at Banc of California Stadium on June 6 with second-half goals from forwards Diego Rossi and Latif Blessing. Meanwhile, Sacramento Republic FC advanced past the Fourth Round following a 2-1 extra time victory over the Seattle Sounders FC.

The U.S. Open Cup matchup will be the second meeting between LAFC and Sacramento in 2018 after the two California clubs met on February 25 for a preseason match. Defender João Moutinho scored his first professional goal in a 1-0 win for the Black & Gold.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the oldest soccer competition in the United States, is an annual tournament open to all United States Soccer Federation (USSF) amateur and professional affiliated soccer teams. This year, 94 teams participated, including all 20 U.S.-based Major League Soccer clubs.
