Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) dropped their second regular season contest of the year, falling 3-1 against the Seattle Sounders on a rainy Sunday night at CenturyLink Field.
After coming out strong at the beginning of the match, the Black & Gold were stunned by a 35 foot, Raul Ruidiaz strike in the 11th minute, and struggled to get back to form throughout the match. The Sounders continued the onslaught in the second half, with Jordan Morris scoring two goals (48',49') in the span of a minute early in the second half.
Diego Rossi scored the Club's lone goal in the 60th minute off a José Cifuentes assist, but it was too little too late for a Club that will look to bounce back Wednesday night against the San Jose Earthquakes at Banc of California Stadium.
In a bright spot for the Club, Christian Torres made LAFC history in the 78th minute, becoming the first MLS Homegrown Academy player to appear in an MLS regular season match
LAFC sits in 7th place in the Western Conference with a 2-2-3 record (9 points). Next up for the Black & Gold, the San Jose Earthquakes back home at Banc Of California Stadium on Wednesday, September 2 at 8:00 p.m. PT (TUDN, Unimás, ESPN LA 710, 980 AM).
