Windsor Spitfires News Release
(Sudbury, ON) - General Manager Warren Rychel has announced defenceman Grayson Ladd and forward Kyle McDonald both suffered season-ending injuries in last night's 4-2 win in North Bay. Ladd, 17, appeared in 48 games this season, posting two goals and 16 assists along with six penalty minutes and a plus-15 rating. Thursday night's game versus the Battalion was his 100th in the Ontario Hockey League.
McDonald, 16, was enjoying an excellent rookie season with four goals and 11 assists along with 10 penalty minutes in 39 games. "These injuries definitely hurt us going forward as we push for playoff positioning," Rychel said. "Both these kids are a big part of our future plans. Taking the right steps to get them healed up is the focus right now." Rychel says both players will be evaluated by team doctors next week to see if surgery is required as part of their recovery. The Spits will play with 11 forwards and five defencemen (with the return of Sean Allen) tonight in Sudbury.
