LaCosta and Wilson Make NHL Debuts

Syracuse, NY (March 26, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that goaltender Dan LaCosta and defenseman Clay Wilson made their National Hockey League debuts in Columbus' 3-0 loss in Nashville last night.

LaCosta, who replaced starter Fredrik Norrena at the 6:51 mark of the third period, denied all five shots he faced in the final 13:09 of the game.

The 22-year old native of Labrador City, Newfoundland has appeared in 12 games for the Crunch this season, posting a record of 7-4-0-1 with a 2.16 goals-against average and .930 save percentage. LaCosta was drafted by Columbus in the third round, 93rd overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Wilson logged 14:49 of ice time and registered three shots in his NHL debut. The 24-year old native of Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota has appeared in 67 combined games for the Crunch and Portland this season, tallying 12 goals and 32 assists, good for fourth in scoring among AHL defensemen.

Earlier this season, Wilson was selected to represent the Crunch at the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic in Binghamton. In addition, he was recently named the Rbk/AHL Player of the Week for the Week ending March 6, 2008.

LaCosta and Wilson were two of eight players in the Blue Jackets lineup last night that have played for the Crunch this season (Gilbert Brule, Joakim Lindstrom, Derek MacKenzie, Andrew Murray, Alexandre Picard and Aaron Rome).

The Crunch's next game is Wednesday, March 26 vs. Toronto at the War Memorial at Oncenter.
