"La Super Copa" final is this Saturday

Washington, D.C. (May 5, 2009) - The championship match of D.C. United's "La Super Copa", a single elimination full side 11-v-11 invitational soccer tournament, will take place this Saturday, May 9th at 4:00 p.m. at the RFK Stadium Auxiliary Field. Admission to the game is free of charge. The final will be played prior to United's match against Toronto FC scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at RFK Stadium.

La Chapin, winner of the 2007 Super Copa and representing the Maryland International Soccer League will take on Real San Vicente of the Arlington Soccer League in the title match. The tournament featured 16 elite adult teams from local leagues with a cash prize of $5,000 for the Cup winner and $2,000 for the runner-up as well as team trophies and individual medals.

La Chapin advanced to the final by defeating the Washington Athletic Club in the first round, the Dulles Sportsplex Aegean Hawks in the quarterfinals and Club Wilstermann in the semis. Meanwhile, Real San Vicente eliminated CD Bata in the first round, CLI Paint Boys in the quarterfinals and Victoria in the semifinals. The fourth edition of D.C. United's "Super Copa" is presented by Volkswagen, Cox Communications and DC Lottery.
