CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, February 24, 2009) - Following their second place finish at the 2009 Pan-Pacific Championship, the LA Galaxy continue their preparations for the 2009 MLS season with four training sessions this week at The Home Depot Center. The Galaxy's season opener against D.C. United is less than a month away and the club will be looking to win their first season opener since the 2004 campaign.

Media availability will take place fieldside follow training on select days. Media members wishing to attend training are asked to contact the Galaxy Communications Department prior to the session that you wish to attend. Please be advised that training session vary in length so be sure to arrive as close to the start of training as possible. Additionally, players and coaches are not required to speak with the media so please inform the Galaxy Communications staff of your interview requests.

Galaxy Team Notes

DAVID KAMMARMAN NAMED DIRECTOR OF SOCCER OPERATIONS: The Galaxy have named David Kammarman the club's Director of Soccer Operations. In this role, he will work closely with Bruce Arena and the Galaxy coaching staff in the areas of player personnel, scouting, talent evaluation, agent and MLS communication and Collective Bargaining Agreement compliance.

Kammarman, 37, joins the Galaxy following an extensive career in soccer in the United States where he has worked with three other MLS clubs, the Chicago Fire, D.C. United, and the MetroStars (now New York Red Bulls) as well as with ESPN on their broadcasts of MLS and U.S. National Team games, including the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.

LOCAL TELEVISION SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED: On Monday the Galaxy and Fox Sports West unveiled the network's television schedule for the 2009 MLS season. Fox Sports West, and sister station Prime Ticket, will broadcast 18 games in 2009, meaning that 29 of the Galaxy's 30 regular season games are currently scheduled to be broadcast either locally or nationally on MLS broadcast partners ESPN2, Fox Soccer Channel or Telefutura. GALAXY 2009 SEASON CREDENTIALS AVAILABLE NOW: Media credentials for the 2009 LA Galaxy season are available now online. Media members looking to receive a season credential can apply online at www.lagalaxy.iwebreg.com. All credential applications must be completed online before the deadline, which is Friday, April 17. All credential applications must be accompanied by a photo headshot.

If you have applied for credentials for recent Galaxy/MLS/SUM events in the past, you must login in to your account using your email address and password. If you have forgotten your password please click on the option that states "Reset Password ".

Media members who will not be covering the entire Galaxy season can request single game credentials through the Galaxy Communications Department by emailing mediarequests@lagalaxy.com.

NUMBER CHANGE: First-year Galaxy forward Mike Magee will now wear the number 18 for the club. Magee began the preseason with the number 20 shirt, but switched to 18 when it was vacated by the release of Mike Munoz earlier this month. Wearing his new number at the Pan-Pacific Championship, Magee scored his first goal for the Galaxy as his late penalty kick tied the score at 1-1 and sent the PPC Final against Suwon Samsung Bluewings to penalties.

GALAXY TO HEAD TO ARIZONA: On Saturday, March 14, the Galaxy will play their final game preseason game of 2009 when they take on the Chicago Fire at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. in the inaugural PHX Soccer Clasico. The game will feature some of the top players in MLS and two teams that have combined for three MLS Cup titles and six U.S. Open Cup championships. All tickets for the game cost just $36 and are sold on a first come-first serve basis, meaning that the earlier you purchase your tickets, the better the seats you will receive. ON LOAN UPDATES: David Beckham and Landon Donovan remain in Europe on loan with AC Milan and Bayern Munich respectively, with both players scheduled to return on March 8, two weeks ahead of the Galaxy's season opener against D.C. United.

Both players will be involved in two different competitions as they prepare for matches in Europe and their respective leagues.

Beckham and Milan currently sit in third place in Serie A and will look to climb up to second when they take on Sampdoria on Sunday. But before that, Milan will look to advance to the Fourth Round of the UEFA Cup when they host Werder Bremen in the second leg of their Third Round tie, which is level at 1-1 after the first leg in Germany.

Donovan will also be in action in Europe this week as Bayern Munich travel to Portugal on Wednesday for the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash against Sporting Lisbon. Following that game, Bayern will return to Germany for a league game on the road against Werder Bremen on Sunday.

MEDIA PARKING AT TRAINING: All media members are asked to enter through Gate D, off Victoria Blvd., and to park in Lot 17 when attending Galaxy training sessions. Members of the media who park in Lot 6 during training sessions may be ticketed now that school is in session at California State University - Dominguez Hills.
