LOS ANGELES - Continuing their 2023 MLS Regular Season campaign, the LA Galaxy travel to face the San Jose Earthquakes at Stanford Stadium tonight, Saturday, July 1 (7:30 p.m. PT; MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, LA Galaxy Radio, LA Galaxy Spanish Radio).
Tonight's match between LA Galaxy and San Jose marks the 97th edition across all competitions of the Cali Clásico, with the Galaxy leading the all-time series 45-33-18. Against San Jose, LA holds a 36-28-16 record in league play, a 4-1-1 record in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and a 5-4-1 record in the MLS Cup Playoffs. The Galaxy enter the match against the Earthquakes following a 0-0 shutout draw on the road against the Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on June 24, which extended a four-match unbeaten run in league play (1-0-3; 6 GF, 5 GA) dating back to May 31.
In 41 all-time regular-season matches played on the road against the Earthquakes, the Galaxy hold a 13-18-10 record. In nine all-time regular-season matches played against San Jose at Stanford Stadium, the Galaxy hold a 2-5-2 record (15 GF, 21 GA). In the last meeting between the two teams at Stanford Stadium, the Galaxy earned a 3-2 win over the Earthquakes on Sept. 24, 2022. Notably, LA is unbeaten in its last two matches played on the road against San Jose (2-0-0, 6 GF, 3 GA) dating back to June 26, 2021. In the first meeting between LA and San Jose during the 2023 campaign, the Galaxy earned a 2-1 win at Dignity Health Sports Park with Dejan Joveljić scoring the game-winning goal on May 14. In six regular-season matches played between San Jose and LA dating back to May 29, 2021, the Galaxy hold a 4-2-0 record (12 GF, 9 GA).
