July 1, 2023 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - Following a 0-0 draw with Orlando City SC on June 24, Seattle Sounders FC is set to host Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday, July 1 on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field (7:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 93.3 KJR FM, El Rey 1360 AM).
MEDIA NOTE: Fans and media are encouraged to arrive early to Saturday's match and be mindful of heavy traffic due the Seattle Mariners game at T-Mobile Park today, scheduled for 4:15 p.m. PT, as well as highway construction occurring on southbound I-5 in downtown Seattle this weekend.
Presented by matchday sponsor Regence BlueShield - who joined Sounders FC in a multi-year partnership announced earlier this week - Saturday's game celebrates RAVE Foundation, Sounders FC's charitable partner that works alongside the club to
Defend the Right to Play. Defending the right to play - with an emphasis on improving health outcomes for youth and the community - is one of the four tenets of Sounders FC's official Social Justice Framework.
Various activities and game presentation elementsat the match will highlight the importance of free play and physical activity and the work being done in the community by RAVE Foundation, Sounders FC and Regence to support these efforts.
Sounders FC announced the signing of Tacoma Defiance defender Hal Uderitz to a short-term agreement ahead of Saturday's match against Houston Dynamo FC. Uderitz has one appearance for Sounders FC, coming on as a substitute in Seattle's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match against San Diego Loyal SC, also while on a short-term agreement. MLS clubs may sign players from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate to short-term agreements (up to four-day contracts) for CONCACAF Champions League, AMWAY Canadian Championship, Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and exhibition matches.
Seattle has a 16-6-7 mark against Houston in MLS play since Seattle joined the league in 2009 including a 11-0-3 mark at Lumen Field (including postseason). Seattle has won nine of its last 10 matches against Houston, including a 1-0 road win earlier this year, and has not dropped points at Lumen Field in the series since October 12, 2016.
Following Saturday's match, the club makes its second trip to Canada this season to face Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, July 8 (7:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 93.3 KJR FM, El Rey 1360 AM).
