
LA Galaxy Sign Midfielder Dylan Vanney to Short-Term Agreement from Ventura County FC

LOS ANGELES - The LA Galaxy announced today that the club has signed midfielder Dylan Vanney to a Short-Term Agreement from MLS NEXT Pro affiliate Ventura County FC (VCFC). He joins LA ahead of the team's MLS Regular Season contest against Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday, May 23 (7:30 p.m. PT, Apple TV) at Dignity Health Sports Park, the Galaxy's final match before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Vanney, 18, has started all 12 MLS NEXT Pro matches for Ventura County FC so far in 2026 and has recorded six goals and an assist. He opened the season with goals in three consecutive matches and in four of the club's first five contests. Last year, Vanney opened the MLS NEXT Pro season with a brace in his first-ever start for VCFC in a 3-2 win over Tacoma Defiance on March 8. Vanney signed his first professional contract with Ventura County FC on May 20, 2026, after previously appearing for the side as a member of the LA Galaxy Academy.
In his five years with the LA Galaxy Academy, Vanney won three consecutive MLS NEXT Cup Championships, most recently with the U-19's last June. Not only did Vanney score a goal in the U-19's 3-1 victory over Cedar Stars Academy Bergen in the final, but he also recorded a brace in their 5-1 win over LAFC to advance to the tournament semifinal. In addition to being named the 2025 MLS NEXT Cup MVP, the Mesa, Arizona native ultimately earned 2025 LA Galaxy Academy Player of the Year honors. Notably, Vanney also earned a call up to the United States U-19 Men's National Team camp in Marbella, Spain this past October.
Per MLS rules, a club may sign a player, age 25 or younger, during the league season from its MLS NEXT Proaffiliateto a maximum of fourShort-TermAgreements(up to four-day contracts) each season (maximum of 16 days). An individual player may be included on up to four MLS league season match rosters each season; however, that player may appear in no more than two MLS league season matches. An individual player may also appear in any number of non-league games during the terms of his fourShort-TermAgreements.
