
LA Galaxy Announce 2002 MLS Cup Championship 20th Anniversary Celebration Details

LOS ANGELES - The LA Galaxy today announced programming for the 2002 MLS Cup Championship 20th Anniversary Celebration, in a match presented by Corazón Tequila, when the club plays host to Sporting Kansas City at Dignity Health Sports Park at 5:00 p.m. PT on Sunday, Sept. 4 (UniMás, TUDN).
SoccerFest
Several players from the LA Galaxy's 2002 MLS Cup Championship team will sign autographs from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. PT at Kinecta Plaza, where a limited quantity of replica 2002 MLS Cup Championship rings will be given away to fans. September kicks off Childhood Cancer Month. The LA Galaxy Foundation will be auctioning off the Kick Childhood Cancer Pre-Match Tops, which the Galaxy will wear during warm-ups and autograph - at SoccerFest and via the LA Galaxy Foundation website.

Sunday's match marks the 20th anniversary of the LA Galaxy's first MLS Cup and the 2002 MLS Cup Championship team will be honored with a halftime recognition.

In celebration of the 2002 MLS Cup victory, the Galaxy collaborated with 813 Design to create and produce the limited-edition 2002 LA Galaxy Championship Ring Tee, which goes on sale at 2:00 p.m. PT at the LA Galaxy Team Store on matchday against Sporting KC. Jersey Week kicks off on Sept. 4. The first 100 customers to purchase an Authentic Men's Jersey will receive a $20.00 gift card to use towards their next purchase at the LA Galaxy Team Store. The Kick Childhood Cancer Pre-Match Top and scarf are available for purchase at the LA Galaxy Team Store for the month of September. With every item purchased, proceeds will go towards the MLS Works Charity to help end childhood cancer. Sunday marks the introduction of the black replica goalkeeper kit at all LA Galaxy Team Store locations.
LA Galaxy Foundation
The LA Galaxy Foundation will be running a fundraiser as a part of Childhood Cancer Awareness and will be spray-painting fans' hair yellow, and with enough funds raised, LA Galaxy defender Julián Araujo will dye his hair yellow in support of the cause. To donate, click here.

Tickets for the Sept. 4 match are still available at www.lagalaxy.com/tickets. Sunday's match marks the 67th MLS regular-season meeting between the Galaxy and Sporting KC, with the all-time series 26-26-15. In 32 matches played at home in league play against Kansas City, LA holds a 17-8-7 record.
