Kyle Palmieri Records First NHL Goal

Syracuse, NY (November 4, 2010) - Right wing Kyle Palmieri tallied his first NHL goal in his first NHL game last night, as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Tampa Lightning, 3-2, in overtime.
Palmieri's goal tied the game late with just 4:20 left in regulation, eventually forcing overtime. In addition, he recorded three shots on goal in 7:40 of ice time. Ryan Getzlaf's marker 2:53 into the extra session won the game for the Ducks.
Palmieri, 19, has appeared in nine games for the Crunch this season and is tied for the team lead in scoring with nine points (7g, 2a). His seven goals are tied for second in the AHL and nine points are tied for third among all league rookies. The 19-year old first-year pro was recently named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week after tallying six points (5g, 1a) in three games last week, including recording his first career hat trick on October 27 at Hamilton.
A native of Smithtown, New York, Palmieri appeared in 33 games during his freshman season at the University of Notre Dame (CCHA) in 2009-10, recording 17 points (9g, 8a). In addition, Palmieri won a gold medal with the United States at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championships. He was selected by Anaheim in the first round, 26th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
The Crunch hit the road this week with games in Springfield on Friday, November 5 and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Saturday, November 6. Syracuse's next home game is on Saturday, November 13 when they battle Hershey at 7:30 p.m. at the War Memorial at Oncenter.
