Portland, Maine - The Eastern League has announced their weekly award winners for July 30-August 5, selecting Portland's Kyle Hart has this week's pitcher of the week.
Hart tossed a two-hit shutout on August 2nd in game two of a doubleheader against the Erie SeaWolves at Hadlock Field. The lefty scattered two hits, two walks, fanned five and retired the final 11 batters faced. The complete-game was the first of his career, earning his 13th professional win.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native is 7-7, 3.78 ERA (46 ER/109.2 IP) in 19 starts in his first Double-A season. Hart was a 19th round pitched by the Boston Red Sox in the 2016 draft out of Indiana University.
Hart is Portland's first Eastern League Pitcher of the Week winner since Teddy Stankiewicz on August 1-7.
Portland opens up a six-game roadtrip on Tuesday night against the Erie SeaWolves (Tigers affiliate) at UPMC Park. Tickets for all remaining home games can be purchased at seadogs.com or 207-879-9500.
