Kostichka's Overtime Goal Gives Komets 2-1 Game One Win

April 15, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Missouri River Otters News Release

Adam Kostichka's goal 46 seconds into the first overtime gave the Fort Wayne Komets a 2-1 victory over the Missouri River Otters Friday night at the Allen County Coliseum.

After a scoreless first period, the River Otters struck first in the second period. Glenn Detulleo picked up the puck behind the Komets net, skated in front, and beat Kevin St. Pierre with a low wrister. Fort Wayne came back to tie the game with seven minutes remaining in the middle period. Adam Kostichka found a wide-open P.C. Druin in front of the River Otters net, and Druin made a nice backhand move and beat Kevin Reiter high to the glove side. Both squads had great chances in the third period, but neither team could score and the game went into overtime. And less than a minute into the first extra session, a loose puck went right to Kostichka at the side of the net, and the Komets rookie buried it to give his team the win. St. Pierre made 23 saves for the victory while Reiter made 32 saves in defeat.

Game Two is set for Sunday night at the Allen County Coliseum. The puck drops at 7:00 CDT, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 FM and the B2 Webcast at www.riverotters.com.
