Fort Wayne, IN — The Komets scored 2 first period goals and added another in the third period to drop the visiting Missouri River Otters 3-1 in front of 6,733 Fort Wayne fans Friday night at the Memorial Coliseum.

Center Tom Nelson netted the first goal of the match and defenseman Troy Neumeier scored his 2nd goal of the season to give the Komets a 2-0 edge at the end of the first period.

After a Missouri power play tally at 6:02 of the third frame winger Jonathan Goodwin found the twine with 1:11 remaining in the game to seal the Komet victory. Left winger Sean Venedam dished an assist on the goal to extend his point streak to 4 games (4g, 1a). Goaltender Kevin St. Pierre earned his 14th win of the season in his 5th straight start stopping 25 of 26 shots. It was the Komet's 3rd win of the season over the River Otters giving the Komets the series lead 3-1-2 with 4 meetings remaining.

$11,111 at 1:11 to go.....Goodwin's goal at 18:49 of the third (1:11 remaining on the clock) was worth $11,111 to Komet fan Jeremy Penrod of Bluffton, Indiana. Penrod's name was chosen among the many Komet fans registered prior to the game for the $11,111 prize from Fort Wayne business and Komet sponsor One Eleven Design. If a goal is scored with 1:11 remaining in any regulation period, the fan chosen by random drawing wins the prize.

Tonight's game was the 102nd game of the One Eleven Design contest spanning over the last 2 1/2 seasons. The contest will continue at Komet home games for the remainder of the season.

The Komets will host the Rockford IceHogs Saturday night, Jan. 22, at 7:30pm. Good seats are available and on sale at the Coliseum Ticket Office and online at www.ticketmaster.com.
