Kalamazoo Wings News Release

For the final time in the regular season, the Kalamazoo Wings will battle the Richmond RiverDogs. The K-Wings are 1-1-1 against the ‘Dogs this year, with the lone regulation loss occurring at the Richmond Coliseum back on December 5th.

The K-Wings will try to break the UHL record consecutive victories. Entering tonight, the K-Wings have won 12 straight, including seven on the road. The recent winning streak has also propelled the K-Wings up the Central Division standings, as the K-Wings come into Richmond tied with the Muskegon Fury for first place in the division. With a goal last night, forward Sean Starke now leads the K-Wings in goals scored with 13. Starke has scored goals in each of his last two games.

After suffering a loss to the Motor City Mechanics last night, the RiverDogs will be looking to rebound tonight. Richmond is 3-6-1 in their last 10 games; however, the ‘Dogs do play their best hockey at home. Richmond enters the contest with a home record of 12-8-2. The RiverDogs are also looking for a little separation room in the Eastern Division, as Richmond has a two point lead over the Elmira Jackals for third place in the east.

Tying History

The K-Wings enter tonight on a 12-game winning streak. The 12-game streak is a season high and franchise record for the Kalamazoo Wings. The streak also ties the UHL record for consecutive games held by the Quad City Mallards (97-98) and the Elmira Jackals (01-02).

Bring in the Crane

The K-Wings have signed defenseman Ryan Crane to a 14-Day PTO. Crane has played the past three seasons in the ECHL. Crane is very familiar to Kalamazoo, as he played his college hockey at Western Michigan University. In his K-Wings debut, Crane had an assist and two minutes in penalties.

Streaky Players

Forward Kevin Kotyluk enters tonight's game on a scoring streak. Kotyluk has registered a point in each of his last four games. The K-Wings season high for consecutive games with a point is five games held by Yannick Carpentier.

Winning Games

Goaltender Chad Alban is in third place in the UHL among goaltenders for victories with 21. Alban, who is just two wins behind Danbury's Scott Stirling and Adirondack's Derek Gustafson for the league lead, has won his last 11 starts, which is a K-Wings franchise record.
