Knoxville Ice Bears News Release

Knoxville, TN - The Knoxville Ice Bears won their sixth game in a row in front of a vigilant crowd of 3,912 with a final score of 6-1 over the first place Louisiana Ice Gators.

The Knoxville Ice Bears came out roaring in the first period with a relentless fore-check, which resulted in a dominant period. The first of four first period goals came off a face-off win from Peter Neal at the 8:39 mark. He won the draw to Dan Bremner who sent a pass across the slot and Emery Olauson beat Mike Dilorenzo, the Louisiana goaltender, glove side for the goal.

Just two minutes later, Matt Pierce wristed a shot on the break and left a rebound on the doorstep. Pierce, while losing his stick poked the puck through the five-hole of Mike Dilorenzo. Louisiana drew within one a minute later with an unassisted goal from Robert Short.

Knoxville regained its two goal advantage with a goal from Mark Van Vliet. Olauson took a shot that rebounded to Van Vliet in the opposite circle and sent it past a diving Dilorenzo. The Ice Bears tallied its final goal of the period off another rebound by Ben Souders. That goal was Souders first professional goal in front of the home crowd.

Knoxville started the second period the same way it started the first. David Segal scored his 15th goal of the season on a three on two break that started back in the Knoxville zone. Brett Valliquette hit a streaking Segal, who tipped it in against the new Ice Gators goalie, Breton Lindoff.

The scoring barrage came to a close in the third period with Knoxville's sixth goal. Brad "The Plow" Pawlowski scored his third goal of the season crashing the net. Olauson flipped a shot on net and as the puck sat in the crease, Pawlowski skated in to tap it home.

The Ice Bears will be back on home ice tomorrow, Saturday, March 9 for the first Knoxville Idol brought to you by Star 102.1. Up and coming stars, Jessica and Bobby will perform during the first intermission. Puck drops at 7:35, call and secure your tickets now.
