Orlando City SC News Release

City head west this weekend for the one and only meeting of the 2018 season with Sporting KC. City is coming off a draw against Philadelphia and will be looking to gain momentum down the stretch of the season. Here is what you need to know about our opponents on Saturday:

New Faces:

KC brought in forward Johnny Russell from Derby County in the offseason and picked up Felipe Gutierrez on a free transfer to bolster their midfield. KC most recently brought back Krisztian Nemeth who played with the club several years ago to help add more scoring threat up top.

Who's Hot:

Sporting KC is one of those teams that doesn't look to the one star to carry the load. The stats back that up. The goal load and assist load is evenly spread. Leading the goal-scoring charge are Johnny Russell and Diego Rubio who both have eight. Daniel Salloi is trailing right behind Russell and Rubio with seven. In terms of the assist game, the boys who are doing the scoring are also doing the helping. Russell has eight assists, Salloi has seven, and Rubio has five. KC's leader in assists is Roger Espinoza with nine.

Recent Form:

Sporting KC was in hot form running off four wins in a row against Western Conference rivals until they ran into the Seattle Sounders last weekend. KC is currently averaging 1.73 points per game and sit in third in the Western Conference on 45 points.

Head-To-Head:

City's all-time record versus Sporting KC is 1-1-1.
