
Knott's Home Run Gives Bats Their Fourth Straight Loss, 2-1

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-Norfolk left fielder Jon Knott's fourth inning two-run home run was enough to hold off the Bats as the Tides defeated Louisville 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in front of 7, 349 at Louisville Slugger Field.
Louisville's Dewayne Wise led the Bats going 2-for-3 for the day, and scored the lone run. Wise scored off a Earl Synder infield hit in the bottom of the second, while outfielders Tyrell Godwin and Jeff Bannon also tallied hits for the Bats.
Tides second basemen Eider Torres started the fourth inning with a bunt single before advancing to second on a wild pitch by Bats starter Bobby Livingston. Knott then knocked the home run over the left centerfield wall.
Norfolk starter Tim Kester (1-1) lasted 6.0 innings and gave up all five hits while striking out two. Reliever Cory Doyne pitched the ninth inning to pick up his fourth save of the season. Doyne ended the game striking out two.
Livingston lasted 7.0 innings allowing four hits while striking out four Tides. Reliever Jared Burton pitched two innings, while striking out two batters. Livingston fell to 0-2 on the season.
The final game of the four-game series is set for Monday at 7:05 p.m. LHP Phil Dumatrait (3-0, 0.51 ERA) for Louisville and LHP Garrett Olson (0-1, 5.79 ERA) for Norfolk are the scheduled starters. Monday night's game is Baseball Bingo where fans will be eligible to win prizes throughout the game.
