Knights Top Rangers in Teddy Bear Toss Game

December 7, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Kitchener Rangers News Release

The Rangers welcomed the London Knights to The Aud for our 26th annual teddy bear toss game. We were looking to continue our winning streak and extend it to four games.

London would grab the early lead just two minutes into the game, making it 1-0. Midway through the period, we were awarded a powerplay, hoping to score the anticipated teddy bear goal. Carson Rehkopf would be the player who made the fur fly, scoring his 4th goal of the season on the powerplay. London would add a late goal to take a 2-1 lead into the 2nd period, but we would outshoot the Knights 16-10.

In the 2nd period, London would get a lucky bounce and score shorthanded halfway through the frame, extending their lead to 3-1. London's Tye McSorley would add a goal with two minutes remaining to make it 4-1. We would look to make the comeback in the 3rd period as we were still outshooting the Knights 25-19.

Sean McGurn would score to make it 5-1 for the Knights 8 minutes into the 3rd period. London would score another two minutes later to make it 6-1. Cameron Mercer would score late to make it 6-2.

London would spoil the teddy bear toss by taking this one by the score of 6-2.

7,406 bears in total will be heading to deserving homes this Christmas. The Rangers would like to thank the fans, volunteers, and Canadian Tire Jumpstart for your support!

Our next home game is on Friday, Dec 10, at 7:30 pm against the Sarnia Sting.
