Knights Defeat Rangers 7-2

London ON: The London Knights defeated the Rangers 7-2 in exhibition OHL action at the John Labatt Centre tonight.

The Knights jumped out to a quick start out shooting the Rangers 6-1 in the opening minute of the game as they welcomed John Gibson in his OHL debut. Gibson held the Knights scoreless until Keli Grant opened scoring for the Rangers at 1:13. Grant picked up his own rebound and beat Michael Houser. The balance of the period remained scoreless until Bo Horvat deflected a centering pass over the shoulder of Gibson at 19:45 to even the score at 1-1. The Rangers held a 17-11 shooting advantage.

Max Domi gave the Knights a 2-1 lead at 8:45 when he was left alone in front of the net. The Knights increased their lead to 3-1 a little over a minute later when Chase Hatcher scored on a wrap around. The Rangers outshot the Knights 11-9.

Josh Anderson scored a power play marker from the side of the net. Anderson followed up with his second of the period less than two minutes later with a blast under the bar to make it 5-1.

Brandon Lesway stole the puck at the Rangers blue line and carried the puck the length of the ice before beating Houser to narrow the Knights lead to 5-2.

Andreas Athanasiou regained the Knights four goal lead with an outstanding individual effort before backhanding a shot under the cross bar.

Anderson completed his hat trick with a power play goal to close out the scoring and increase the Knights lead to 7-2.

The Knights held a 38-34 overall shooting edge.
