FORT MILL, S.C. - May 7, 2009 - Charlotte took an early 4-0 lead against Durham and never looked back. Strong hitting and pitching was key in the win over the Bulls 10-2.

Knights starting pitcher Wes Whisler (3-2, 2.12) earned his third win tonight and his second straight. Whisler benefited from getting key double plays turned by his defense.

"I really just try to let the defense work for me and keep them involved," said Whisler. "They played great behind me."

Whisler got great offensive support even though the Knights were matched up against David Price (1-4, 4.74) regarded as the top pitching prospect in all of baseball. Whisler had no problems matching wits with the highly touted Price.

"It was exciting to go against him and be matched up with him. It was fun to compete with him all night," said Whisler.

The Knights had a four hit night from second baseman Keith Ginter, who also picked up 3 RBI's. Ginter also hit his second home run in his last three games.

The Knights will begin an eight-game road trip Friday where they will face the Rochester Red Wings for four games followed up with four games against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. RHP Carlos Torres (3-1) and his league leading 0.95 ERA will take the mound for Charlotte tomorrow.

The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at www.charlotteknights.com for more information.
