Charlotte Knights News Release
FORT MILL, S.C. - June 25, 2009 - The Louisville Bats got an early lead in the first inning that was never threatened by the Knights to win their second game of the series 7-0.
Bats starting pitcher Sam LeCure (6-5, 4.72) picked his sixth win tonight, allowing only five hits and no runs. LeCure struck out seven Charlotte batters. Knights pitcher Wes Whisler (5-6, 3.82) took the loss for the Knights.
The Knights had plenty of opportunities to score tonight, but weren't able to cash in. Charlotte stranded 11 runners on base on the night. Designated hitter Darlye Ward had the only stand out night offensively. Ward went 2-2 with a pair of walks.
The Knights and Bats finish their series tomorrow night at Knights Stadium. RHP Jeff Marquez (0-5, 9.89) will be starting for the Knights. RHP Ramon Ramirez (2-4, 4.40) will start for Louisville. Game time is at 7:15.
