Knighthawks Host New York In Search Of First Win Of Season

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks host the New York Titans on Saturday, January 24th at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The game will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com. The contest will also be televised taped-delayed on Time Warner Cable SportsNet Channel 26. Fans can watch the game live online and free of charge via the NLL Network at NLL.com and on knighthawks.net.

The game is the first of three meetings between the two teams from January 24th to February 21st. Rochester has a 2-2 all-time record against the Titans.

Rochester fell to 0-3 for the first time in team history, following a 16-6 loss to the San Jose Stealth at HP Pavilion at San Jose on January 18th. Shawn Williams is tied for eighth in the league with 16 points (4+12). Gary Gait is second on the team with eight points (5+3) in three games since his return to the NLL. Goalie Pat O'Toole is expected to make his first start of the season after missing the first three games with an injury. Defenseman Marshall Abrams may also make his 2009 debut.

On Wednesday, Rochester re-activated defensemen Pat Cougevan and Abrams. To make room for the veterans on the roster, the Knighthawks released goalie Derek Collins and defenseman Jamie Hanford. On Thursday, Rochester signed goalie Jake Henhawk and released goalie Phil Wetherup.

The Titans (2-1) enter the contest one game out of first place in the East Division. New York completed a two-game sweep of the Boston Blazers on January 17th, earning a 13-9 win at TD Banknorth Garden. Greg Peyser was named Transition Player of the Week after recording a game-high 14 loose balls to go along with his two goals. Casey Powell leads the league with 27 points (12+15). The Titans are coached by former Knighthawks Head Coach Ed Comeau.

The Knighthawks will hold their inaugural Hall of Fame Night on Saturday, January 31st, sponsored by CURE Childhood Cancer Association and IKON Office Solutions. That night, the franchise will induct former Head Coach Paul Day and forwards Tim Soudan and Duane Jacobs. The 7:35 p.m. game will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com. Fans can watch the game live online and free of charge via the NLL Network at NLL.com and on knighthawks.net.

The historic evening will also include a jersey auction to honor the Hall of Fame inductees, as three 1997 replica championship jerseys will be auctioned off with proceeds going to CURE Childhood Cancer Association. The silent auction will also include 1997 jerseys for current Knighthawks John Grant and Gary Gait. Further, the Knighthawks will hold an autograph session at the end of the game on the turf, which will feature the Hall of Fame inductees, and past and present Knighthawks players and coaches.

Fans 21 and older can purchase a $4.00 Labatt blue or blue light in a commemorative Knighthawks cup. The first of six cups features Gary Gait.
