
Knicks Secure First Win and Upend Skyhawks, 105-97

COLLEGE PARK, GA - The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, notched a come-from-behind 105-97 win over the College Park Skyhawks Sunday afternoon at Gateway Center Arena. This marks the first victory for the Knicks this season, first for head coach DeSagana Diop and severs a four-game skid for Westchester (1-4).
Feron Hunt (Two-Way) put up a season-high 29 points and hauled a career-high 11 rebounds. Hunt also shot 72.2-percent (13-18) from the field while draining three of his four attempts from beyond the arc. DaQuan Jeffries (affiliate) in his return from the November FIBA World Cup Qualifiers recorded 15 points, three boards, a pair of assists and two blocks. James Akinjo (affiliate) finished withs a game-high 14 assists to go along with 13 points and just one turnover in 29 minutes. Trevor Keels (Two-Way) scored 14 points including two made triples in his performance.
For the Skyhawks (3-3), Jarrett Culver registered 25 points and eight rebounds. Trent Forrest gave an 18-point, five-rebound, and six-assist effort. Tyrese Martin notched a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Four minutes into the game and the Knicks led the Skyhawks by five points which marked its largest lead against the foe in the first half. College Park responded, going up by as many as 10 points in the first period and 18 points by halftime, 58-40.
College Park showed no signs of decelerating mounting a 21-point lead in the third quarter. Heading into the fourth, the Knicks trailed the Skyhawks 82-68 but erupted for a 20-6 run to even the playing field, 88-up with 5:24 to go. While disallowing College Park to score, Hunt accounted for six of Westchester's next eight points to go ahead 96-88 with just under four minutes remaining.
Averse to the Knicks momentum, the Skyhawks tacked on nine points to the Knicks two over the next three minutes to pull within one, 98-97. With 1:18 left, Akinjo nailed a trey, soared for a board, and knocked in a pair of free-throws to keep the Skyhawks at bay. A Quinton Rose dunk would ultimately put a bow on the contest and without any interruption from College Park, which failed to score for the duration of the game, 105-97.
Westchester and College Park battle again Tuesday, November 22 at Total Mortgage Arena for the Knicks home opener. The action is slated for a 7:00 PM ET start.
