Mad Ants Charge Past Cleveland

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne Mad Ants opened a two-game series with the Cleveland Charge on Sunday, taking home a 122-93 win in Fort Wayne.
Pacers assignment player Terry Taylor took court by storm in the first quarter, leading the Mad Ants with nine points on 4-of-7 shooting. He helped Fort Wayne jump out to an 11-point lead in the first quarter; they would lead by 10 at the first quarter break.
Things got interesting in the second quarter with a few technical fouls, including two on Fort Wayne's Gabe York that saw the reigning NBA G League Player of the Week's night end early with just nine points including two big second quarter dunks. Cleveland battled back from their 31-21 first quarter deficit to take a three-point lead in the second. Nate Hinton scored 13 points and registered five steals in the period. Fort Wayne though took a 60-54 lead into the halftime break.
Both teams gained traction in the third quarter but a Deividas Sirvydis three pointer near the five minute mark pushed Fort Wayne's lead back to 10, followed on the next two possessions by back to back threes from Bennie Boatwright to push the Mad Ants lead to 84-68 late in the third. Fort Wayne's five three pointers in the quarter helped push their lead to 96-73 after three despite both Hinton and Jamorko Pickett over twenty points each for the game.
The final quarter was back and forth but the Mad Ants lead was too much to overcome for Cleveland. Fort Wayne pushed their lead to as many as thirty in the final frame.
Taylor led the Mad Ants with 29 points and 18 rebounds, his 16th career Mad Ant double double. Eli Brooks secured his first professional double double with 14 points and 10 assists. Joining them in double figure scoring for the Mad Ants were Kendall Brown (14), Bennie Boatwright (12), Justin Anderson (11) and Jermaine Samuels Jr. (11).
The Charged were paced by Hinton's 30 points, 9 rebounds and 7 steals. Pickett added 23 points and Chris Walker scored 13.
