On January 25, the Westchester Knicks (19-13), the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, boasted a 27-point lead before topping the Memphis Hustle (17-13), 108-97, Friday evening at the Westchester County Center.

Billy Garrett's team-high 20-point performance is his first since Oklahoma City (12/8) when he registered 24. He did so on 63.6-percent shooting which included four makes from distance. Two-Way Player, Kadeem Allen, also ended with 20 points which accompanied a team-high six assists, five rebounds and three steals.

Paul Watson added nine points, a team-high nine rebounds and a game-high four steals.

For Memphis, Yuta Watanabe posted a game-high 23 points and seven rebounds. Dusty Hannahs credited 21 points off the bench while Nino Johnson led all with a game-high 10 boards.

The win becomes just the second Knicks' victory over a Western Conference opponent who are now 2-6 in the category.

BEST OF DEVON

Against Memphis (1/25), Devon Baulkman put up some his better numbers this season. He recorded 12 points which marked just the fourth time this season Baulkman was able to score in double-figures. His five made field goals tied a season-best. In almost 19 minutes, he gathered six boards which matched his career-high, netted a pair of threes and did not turn the ball over.

AGGRESSIVE KADEEM

Kadeem Allen ended with 20 points against Memphis (1/25) which marked his fourth 20-point game this season. His five made free-throws tabbed the most since he netted five at Texas (1/16). His nine trips to the line marked the most since he got to the line 10 times at Grand Rapids (12/15).

THE SEKOU WE LIKE

Sekou Wiggs registered 14 points against Memphis (1/25) which marked the first time he scored 10-plus points since he added 15 against Texas (1/16) to cap a three-game streak of its kind. His two made three-pointers tabbed a season-high.

PAUL POINTS

Paul Watson scored 11 points against the Raptors (1/23) which marked the first time he scored double-figures since he netted 15 against Salt Lake City (1/14). Watson has reached double-figures eight times this season but has appeared in each game this year. He has scored at least one three-pointer is seven of his last nine games and is averaging 10.0 points per game in his last two games.

Kadeem Allen is averaging 8.6 assists over his last five games. The team has gone 3-2 in the span.

STOPPED THE SKID

Westchester's four-game skid which includes Capital City, Rio Grande Valley, Salt Lake City, Texas marked its longest slide this season.

To start the season, John Jenkins led the team for three games straight. In November, Jenkins, Isaiah Hicks, Luke Kornet and Billy Garrett each took command of the scoring. December saw five different top scorers. Nine games into January and six different Knicks (Jenkins, Zak Irvin, Sekou Wiggs, Kadeem Allen, Jameel Warney, Billy Garrett) have led the team in scoring.

The Knicks are scoring 110.7 points per win and 99.4 points per loss. Its opponents are scoring 98.6 points per Knicks win and 109.8 points per Knicks loss.

Devon Baulkman's four threes against Salt Lake City (1/14) tied his career-high. All of his points came from the perimeter. He netted three triples against the Raptors (1/23).

WELCOME JAMEEL WARNEY

On January 8, the Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, traded Xavier Rathan-Mayes to the Texas Legends in exchange for Jameel Warney.

Jameel Warney, 6'7 259, came to Westchester after appearing in 22 games this season for the Texas Legends, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks. He was averaging 13.7 on 43-percent shooting (seventh-best on the team) and 6.8 rebounds (third-best on the team).

With the Dub Knicks, the Rathan-Mayes averaged 16.7 points in 43 games on 43-percent shooting (third-best on the team). He shot 33.8-percent from distance, collected 6.4 rebounds per game (third-best on the team) and dished 7.2 assists per game (309 total assists slotted first on the team).

THAT WAS CLOSE

Before Capital City (1/6), Westchester was 5-0 in games settled by three points or less. The Knicks' 11-point loss to Austin (12/21) marked just the second time the team lost by 11 or more points. The one-point loss to Capital City (1/6) marked the first setback, 90-89, settled by a margin smaller than three.

IT'S MORE THAN DEFENSE

Austin (12/21) scored 99 points which marked the first time a Knicks opponent scored fewer than 100 points and still pulled out the victory. Previously, Westchester was 8-0 when an opponent failed to clear the 100-point mark. Capital City (1/6) scored just 90 in four periods and one-point overtime to tab the victory over the Knicks.

DEEM WITH THE DIME

From 12/19-12/27, Kadeem Allen was averaging 8.0 assists per game before missing his first game of the season.

SHOWCASE LEADERS

John Jenkins led the team in Vegas with 19.5 ppg on 45.2-percent shooting. Jenkins shot 40-percent from three as one of only five Knicks to connect from long range. His 5.5 apg ranked second on the team.

Stephen Zimmerman was the team's leading rebounder with 9.5 rpg during the Showcase, including six total on the offensive glass. Zimmerman earned one start and tied for third with 13.5 ppg.

Kadeem Allen led the Knicks in assists with 8.0 apg.

TWO-WAY DEEM

On January 14, the New York Knicks announced that the team signed guard Kadeem Allen to a Two-Way contract.

Allen, 6'3 200, joined the Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, after appearing in two preseason games and being waived by New York on October 13, 2018.

Allen was a late second round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft out of the University of Arizona (2015-17) and Hutchinson Community College (2012-14), selected 53rd overall by the Boston Celtics. With the Red Claws, Allen averaged 17.7 points per game, a team-leading 2.2 steals per game and 5.0 assists per game. He was later named to the 2018 NBA G League All-Defensive Team.

With Allen's Two-Way contract, he will be the eighth Westchester Knick to earn a call-up and seventh under head coach Mike Miller. At least one player has earned a call-up each season since Westchester's G League inception in 2014.

THE COACH'S CHALLENGE

The coach's challenge was revised so that teams receive only one challenge per game, to be used at any point during regulation or overtime periods. Only fouls called, goaltending/basket interference and out-of-bounds calls may be challenged.

TWO-WAY PLAYERS

Beginning in the 2017 offseason, NBA rosters expanded from 15 to 17 players with the addition of two spots for players under "Two-Way Contracts."

NBA teams may have up to two players under NBA Two-Way Contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and not more than 45 days with their NBA team. Two-Way players are paid a corresponding daily amount based on the number of days they play in each league. Only players with four or fewer years of NBA service are able to sign Two-Way Contracts, which can be for either one or two seasons.

Isaiah Hicks and Kadeem Allen are under Two-Way Contract via the New York Knicks.

SUCCESS STORY

On December 13, the New York Knicks announced that the team signed guard Allonzo Trier to an NBA contract. With this signing, Trier becomes the first two-way player to sign a guaranteed NBA contract within the first two months of the season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The NBA G League's flexible assignment system - which was instituted prior to the 2014-15 season - will continue to enable the independent NBA teams to assign players to the NBA G League for development or rehabilitation from injury.

Paul Watson scored 11 points against the Raptors (1/23) which marked the first time he scored double-figures since he netted 15 against Salt Lake City (1/14). Watson has reached double-figures eight times this season but has appeared in each game this year. He has scored at least one three-pointer is seven of his last nine games and is averaging 10.0 points per game in his last two games.

Kadeem Allen is averaging 8.6 assists over his last five games. The team has gone 3-2 in the span.

SCARED OF REJECTION

Westchester failed to complete a block against Texas (1/16) which marked the first time this season the team went an entire game without tallying at least one. The game before that, the team registered two against Salt Lake City (1/14) which tied a then-season low. From 12-27 to 1/11, the team averaged 7.4 blocks per game. Against Memphis (1/25), the team failed to complete a block.

As of January 14, the Knicks ranked sixth in the league with 6.2 blocks per game.

Garrett has started the last six games for Westchester, replacing John Jenkins in the lineup. In the span, Garrett is averaging 11.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists.

HICKS FROM THE OUTSIDE

Isaiah Hicks has drilled six threes over the course of the last three games which marks the most by the big in such a window. He is shooting 42.9-percent from the perimeter in the span.

WHAT YOU DOIN' ZIMM?

From 1/21-1/23, Stephen Zimmerman was shooting 55.6-percent averaged 10.5 points in the span. He is also averaged eight rebounds and 2.5 on the offensive glass. Jameel Warney came to Westchester hot almost immediately. Following just a six-point performance against Rio Grande Valley (1/11), Warney went on to average 26.3 points over the next last four games, with 11.5 field goal makes per game on 58.3-percent shooting. He is averaging 13 points in the Knicks last two.

TRIPLE BILLY

Billy Garrett has drained five triples from 1-16-1/19 which marked the most for Garrett in a two-game span this season. He has only netted triples in consecutive games five times this season. He tied a season-high three triples against Memphis (1/25).

STOPPED THE SKID

Westchester's four-game skid which includes Capital City, Rio Grande Valley, Salt Lake City, Texas marked its longest slide this season.

WHO'S GONNA STEP UP

To start the season, John Jenkins led the team for three games straight. In November, Jenkins, Isaiah Hicks, Luke Kornet and Billy Garrett each took command of the scoring. December saw five different top scorers. Nine games into January and six different Knicks (Jenkins, Zak Irvin, Sekou Wiggs, Kadeem Allen, Jameel Warney, Billy Garrett) have led the team in scoring.

WINS AND LOSSES

The Knicks are scoring 110.7 points per win and 99.4 points per loss. Its opponents are scoring 98.6 points per Knicks win and 109.8 points per Knicks loss.

THE THREE BALL

The Knicks are only generating 283 points from three-point territory in losses which accounts for 21.9-percent of the team's offense. In those same losses, its opponents are generating 468 points from the perimeter which accounts for 32.7-percent of those offenses.

Before Delaware (1/19), Westchester got to the line 144 times in five games. However, the team only converted 95 of them (66%) which ranked 25th in the G League (as of 1/15). Against Delaware, the team went 16-for-18 from the free-throw line (88.9%). The last time the team shot better came against Grand Rapids (12/15) when the team went 33-for-34 (97.1%) which also resulted in a win.

Zak Irvin is averaging 8.6 rebounds per Knicks win as the Knicks leading rebounder.

PUTTING ON A CLINIC

Considering Westchester's games against Rio Grande Valley (1/11) and Salt Lake City (1/14) (0-2), the team gave up 120 points from three-point territory. In that span, its two opponents scored a combined 247 points. That accounts for 48.6-percent of their opponents' offense. Salt Lake City's (1/14) 21 three-pointers topped the season-high set by Rio Grande Valley (1/11) the game before (19). The Knicks only generated 45 points from the perimeter.

GARRETT IN WINS AND LOSSES

Billy Garrett is scoring 14.8 points on 51.5-percent per Knicks win as the team's fourth-leading scorer, but first with at least 16 games played. Garrett is averaging 9.6 points on 38.2-percent per Knicks loss.

ALLEN IN WINS AND LOSSES

Kadeem Allen is averaging 6.6 assists and 14.1 points in 17 wins. In losses, Allen is averaging 5.9 assists and 14.8 points in losses. The Knicks have not won a game without Kadeem Allen.

HICKS IN WINS AND LOSSES

Isaiah Hicks is averaging 18.3 points in 14 wins and 14.4 points in eight setbacks.

CHARITY STRIPE

The Knicks are shooting 76.1-percent from the free-throw line in wins and 72.9-percent in losses.

The Knicks are shooting 37.4-percent from three in wins and 31.4-percent from three in losses.

IT'S JUST WHAT HE DOES

John Jenkins is averaging 28.6 points on 51.1-percent shooting in 10 of the Knicks' 17 victories this season. From downtown, the three-point sniper is scoring on 45.1-percent of his tries.

FORTY FORTY CLUB

John Jenkins scored 40 points against Grand Rapids (12/15) which tabbed the second time this season he scored that much. He tallied 41 points against Lakeland (11/10).

BAULK FOR THREE

Devon Baulkman's four threes against Salt Lake City (1/14) tied his career-high. All of his points came from the perimeter. He netted three triples against the Raptors (1/23).

WELCOME JAMEEL WARNEY

On January 8, the Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, traded Xavier Rathan-Mayes to the Texas Legends in exchange for Jameel Warney.

Jameel Warney, 6'7 259, came to Westchester after appearing in 22 games this season for the Texas Legends, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks. He was averaging 13.7 on 43-percent shooting (seventh-best on the team) and 6.8 rebounds (third-best on the team).

With the Dub Knicks, the Rathan-Mayes averaged 16.7 points in 43 games on 43-percent shooting (third-best on the team). He shot 33.8-percent from distance, collected 6.4 rebounds per game (third-best on the team) and dished 7.2 assists per game (309 total assists slotted first on the team).

THAT WAS CLOSE

Before Capital City (1/6), Westchester was 5-0 in games settled by three points or less. The Knicks' 11-point loss to Austin (12/21) marked just the second time the team lost by 11 or more points. The one-point loss to Capital City (1/6) marked the first setback, 90-89, settled by a margin smaller than three.

IT'S MORE THAN DEFENSE

Austin (12/21) scored 99 points which marked the first time a Knicks opponent scored fewer than 100 points and still pulled out the victory. Previously, Westchester was 8-0 when an opponent failed to clear the 100-point mark. Capital City (1/6) scored just 90 in four periods and one-point overtime to tab the victory over the Knicks.

DEEM WITH THE DIME

From 12/19-12/27, Kadeem Allen was averaging 8.0 assists per game before missing his first game of the season.

SHOWCASE LEADERS

John Jenkins led the team in Vegas with 19.5 ppg on 45.2-percent shooting. Jenkins shot 40-percent from three as one of only five Knicks to connect from long range. His 5.5 apg ranked second on the team.

Stephen Zimmerman was the team's leading rebounder with 9.5 rpg during the Showcase, including six total on the offensive glass. Zimmerman earned one start and tied for third with 13.5 ppg.

Kadeem Allen led the Knicks in assists with 8.0 apg.

TWO-WAY DEEM

On January 14, the New York Knicks announced that the team signed guard Kadeem Allen to a Two-Way contract.

Allen, 6'3 200, joined the Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, after appearing in two preseason games and being waived by New York on October 13, 2018.

Allen was a late second round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft out of the University of Arizona (2015-17) and Hutchinson Community College (2012-14), selected 53rd overall by the Boston Celtics. With the Red Claws, Allen averaged 17.7 points per game, a team-leading 2.2 steals per game and 5.0 assists per game. He was later named to the 2018 NBA G League All-Defensive Team.

With Allen's Two-Way contract, he will be the eighth Westchester Knick to earn a call-up and seventh under head coach Mike Miller. At least one player has earned a call-up each season since Westchester's G League inception in 2014.

THE COACH'S CHALLENGE

The coach's challenge was revised so that teams receive only one challenge per game, to be used at any point during regulation or overtime periods. Only fouls called, goaltending/basket interference and out-of-bounds calls may be challenged.

TWO-WAY PLAYERS

Beginning in the 2017 offseason, NBA rosters expanded from 15 to 17 players with the addition of two spots for players under "Two-Way Contracts."

NBA teams may have up to two players under NBA Two-Way Contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and not more than 45 days with their NBA team. Two-Way players are paid a corresponding daily amount based on the number of days they play in each league. Only players with four or fewer years of NBA service are able to sign Two-Way Contracts, which can be for either one or two seasons.

SUCCESS STORY

On December 13, the New York Knicks announced that the team signed guard Allonzo Trier to an NBA contract. With this signing, Trier becomes the first two-way player to sign a guaranteed NBA contract within the first two months of the season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

LET ME SEE YOU FLEX

The NBA G League's flexible assignment system - which was instituted prior to the 2014-15 season - will continue to enable the independent NBA teams to assign players to the NBA G League for development or rehabilitation from injury.
