
Isaac Bonga Leads the Pack in South Bay's Win over Iowa

EL SEGUNDO - The South Bay Lakers picked up their largest win of the season as they beat the Iowa Wolves, 117-101, on Friday night. Isaac Bonga scored an NBA G League career-high 30 points along with nine rebounds four South Bay (12-18) and shot 72.2 percent from the field in the win. Darius Johnson-Odom led the Wolves (9-23) with 35 points, but the shorthanded Wolves could not stop the Lakers.
The Lakers led by three after one, 26-23, as Bonga started with eight points in the first quarter. Bonga scored eight more in the second along with seven points from Alex Caruso to give the Lakers a 59-47 lead going into the half.
Bonga continued his great game with 11 points in the third quarter to give the Lakers an 86-70 lead through three. South Bay controlled the game in the fourth quarter, leading by as many as 22 points, as they snapped their three-game losing streak.
Johnson-Odom's big scoring night paced the Wolves as the former Los Angeles Laker shot 10-of-14 from the free throw line en route to 35 points. Marquise Moore finished with 19 points and Hakim Warrick scored 14 points for the Wolves. Evan Smotrycz came off the bench with 15 points.
Bonga's career night led South Bay as the rookie guard finished with 30 points (13-18 FG), nine rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Scott Machado continued his hot streak with a 19-point, 10-assist double-double off the bench. Travis Wear (14 points) and Caruso (12 points) scored in double figures and Jeffrey Carroll tallied a career-high 14 points.
South Bay now heads up north to face the Santa Cruz Warriors on Sunday, January 27th at 5:00pm PT from the Kaiser Permanente Arena.
