Lynchburg Hillcats News Release
The Indians cruised to an 8-1 win over the Hillcats on Saturday night at Grainger Stadium. The Cats look to take three out of four in this set in the final game on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Kinston.
Kinston scored their first run of the night in the second inning with an RBI sacrifice fly by Alex Castillo. The Indians would tack on two more runs in the third with run scoring hits by Ronald Rivas and Roman Pena to make it 3-0.
Another two runs came home in the fourth for the K-Tribe on the RBI single by Matt McBride and an RBI double by Roman Pena. Kinston's five-run lead held up thanks to an outstanding outing by starter Jeanmar Gomez, who tossed seven scoreless innings and struckout six.
The Hillcats would finally get on the board in the top of the eighth on the leadoff home run by Maiko Loyola. The Indians responded though with three more runs in the bottom of the frame. Matt Brown knocked-in a pair with a two out single and it was 8-1 Kinston.
That would prove to be the final as Gomez (2-2) earned the win for Kinston (8-9) who snapped three-game losing streak with the win. The loss went to starter Matt McSwain (0-1) for Lynchburg (11-6) who had a three-game winning streak snapped with the loss.
The final game of the four-game series takes place on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Grainger Stadium. Left-hander Justin Wilson (2-0, 3.86) will toe the rubber for the Hillcats opposite fellow lefty Eric Berger (1-1, 1.93) for the Indians.
Tune-in for all the live action beginning at 1:40 p.m. with the Voice of the Hillcats Scott Bacon on FM 105.5 KD Country.
