Tribe Talk....

Yesterday- The Kinston Indians defeated the Salem Red Sox by a final of 9-7 (13) on Saturday night in Salem, Virginia. Jeremie Tice hit a clutch 2- run Homerun, which provided a spark en route to the comeback victory. Kyle Landis got the win his 8th of the season. Speedy K-Tribe... Tyler Holt stole four bases in August 11th ‘s game bringing his total to 30 on the season. Delvi Cid has 21 stolen bases and Justin Toole has swiped 16. As a team the Indians have taken 111 bases and only been caught 37 times which ranks 4th in the Carolina League. One Run Magic - The K-tribe has pushed its league best record in one run games to 28-11. When scoring first, Kinston also has the Carolina League's top mark, 32-11. Kinston added to the one run magic Aug. 10th in Lynchburg winning 4-3 in ten innings

Homer Happy - Kinston's offense just turned in its best power month with 21 home runs in July, fourth in the league. The team's previous monthly high was 18 June jacks. Abner Abreu was responsible for eight of the team's July home runs. Kinston has a five game homerless streak. The K-Tribe has only hit two long balls in the month of August. Jeremie Tice hit one on August 2nd and Jesus Aguilar hit the game winner in the tenth inning on August 10th in Lynchburg. The K-Tribe has blasted eight homers against the Salem Red Sox. That is the second lowest against any opponent this season. The least amount of HR's hit against any team for Kinston is 5 against Myrtle Beach.

Season Series - The K-Tribe and the Salem Red sox have played 19 times this season with the Kinston Indians winning 13 games. The last time these two teams met before this four game set, was a double header in Kinston. The teams split as Salem won game one 5-1 and then Kinston won the second game 2-1.

Sweet Saves- Preston Guilmet has three saves in Kinston's last ten games. In fact Guilmet has pitched a total of four innings only surrendering five base hits allowing only two runs, with two strikeouts and surrendering only one walk. Gulimet has only one save in the teams' last five games. Guilmet picked up his 30th save in 31 chances after earning the save Wednesday Night.

What a Relief- The K-Tribe bullpen has been pretty effective as of late compiling some impressive stats. The K-Tribe has just allowed 10 ER in 33.2 IP over their last 10 games, which is good enough for a 3.01 ERA. They have a record of 5-0 with 36 K's and only 15 BB with 5 saves (Guilmet has 3) in that 10 game span. Last night The pen combined for 10.2 IP, 2 ER, 6 K's, 10 H, 6 BB and Kyle Landis earned the victory his 8th of the season.

Extra Innings- Last night's 13-inning game was the eighth time the K-Tribe has pushed a game to extra frames. Their record is 6-2 in those contests.
