Kinney Drugs \'Crunch Into Reading\' Program Returns

Syracuse, NY (May 16, 2005) - The Syracuse Crunch and the Onondaga County Public Library system announced today that the popular Kinney Drugs ‘Crunch Into Reading' program begins on June 29 at the Fairmount Community Library and will include 10 visits to Onondaga County Libraries through August 10.

The Kinney Drugs ‘Crunch Into Reading' program is aimed at enhancing the reading capabilities of youths and the use of library cards among children in grades K-6. At each of the appearances Al, the Crunch's ice gorilla mascot, and a Crunch staff member will read a number of hockey books to the children in attendance.

As part of the program any child, 14 and under, who uses their library card during the month of October at an Onondaga Public Library will receive a free ticket to a Crunch home game in November. Parents will receive a discounted ticket rate.

In addition, the Crunch and Kinney Drugs will kick off a bookmark drawing contest, which will coincide with this years' summer reading schedule. (More information will be available soon.)

Wednesday, June 29 – 10 a.m. – Fairmount Community Library

Wednesday, June 29 -- 1 p.m. – LaFayette Public Library

Thursday, June 30 -- 2 p.m. – Beauchamp Branch Library

Wednesday, July 27 – 10:30 a.m. – Petit Branch Library

Thursday, July 28 -- 10:30 a.m. – Betts Branch Library

Monday, August 1 -- 1 p.m. – Phoenix Public Library

Tuesday, August 2 – 2 p.m. – Hazard Branch Library

Wednesday, August 3 – 10:30 a.m. – Solvay Public Library

Thursday, August 4 – 1 p.m. – Manlius Library

Wednesday, August 10 – 1:30 p.m. – NOPL @ North Syracuse
