
Kings Outlast Wild Things

Washington Wild Things News Release
Washington, PAâ Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, returned to Falconi Field Monday, July 19 and put 19 runners on base. However, they managed to score just once, and the Kalamazoo Kings won the game 2-1 in extra innings.
Brian Stoecklein drove in Washington's lone run in the fifth inning with an RBI single. Casey DeGroote's sacrifice fly in the seventh tied the game at one apiece.
After escaping a pair of jams in the eighth and ninth innings, the Wild Things forced extra innings. But Kalamazoo's Ronald Fenwick led off the 10th with a walk and Darren Uranga delivered a two-out RBI double to give the Kings the lead. Washington could not manage a run in the bottom of the inning, giving Kalamazoo a 2-1 victory.
Brendon Davis (1-2) suffered the loss for the Wild Things while Justin Keeling (1-2) picked up the victory. Jake Brooks earned his 10th save of the season. Washington's starter Eric Holt pitched 7 1/3 innings and allowed just one run on two hits.
Bill Greenwell paced Washington with three hits. Kalamazoo was led by Uranga's two hits and game-winning RBI.
The loss drops Washington to 33-18 and boosts Kalamazoo's mark to 32-22.
The Wild Things will try to even the series Tuesday night. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Also, the first 1,000 adults will receive a Washington Wild Things t-shirt courtesy of Washington Pharmacy.
